Geddit - How to Check In - YouTube
This is a great idea, but we don't need an app if our kids are already on Chromebooks. We can do it even easier on the Chromebooks with those lights.
I picture using it when students are in the early stages of writing, researching, organizing, or outlining. Some kids will never come over to ask for help, but they might adjust their light from green to read and silently alert us that they need help.
We could also use it in AO to have kids self-report what they are doing. Green homework/projects/studying Blue exploring/reading/learning Red break/social/YouTube(

Adjusting to the Room

Here are some keys to this for a presenter that are almost in contradiction. First of all, to be able to "go with the room", you have to know your content area in a very deep manner and be able to push learning on the fly, but on the opposite end of the spectrum, you also have to be comfortable with not knowing everything and learning from the room. As a teacher, if you want to truly create a "learning community", you have to create opportunities for others to learn from others, not only the teacher.
